Again the message boards are running rampant with alternate Miami Hurricanes jersey talk. Saw a post today where a fan states that his “sources” informed him that UM will be sporting black jerseys at some point this season.
Just like two years back, this info is wrong. One more time for the record, there will be NO black Miami Hurricanes football jersey this fall. That is simply another Intraweb rumor.

Miami is again one of ten teams that will be part of Nike’s Pro Combat line this fall. It will be a different jersey than you saw last year in the season finale at South Florida and the bowl game.
For starters, the Canes will be wearing the new-look jersey at home this year, on Saturday November 20th when Virginia Tech comes to town. The new uniform will consist of the following:
– A green helmet. (After all the joking over the years, seriously.)
– Orange jersey. (Numbers are same font, palm tree pattern inside number.)
– Orange pants. (Pattern inside number is same pattern running down leg. “U” logo by the knee.)
– Orange / Green / Black shoes.
– Same gloves as last year, forming a “U” when put together.
Michael “The Playmaker” Irvin will be Miami’s former player acting as ‘team rep’ for the new-look jerseys and more info will be available Wednesday morning on Nike’s Facebook page. Check back there for the latest … not on the ill-informed message boards.

I am a big supporter of allcanes and this blog. but in all fairness to forum board posters who just like to seem like they have insider information.
allcanes doesn't seem to always have the correct information and if they do they haven't been forward with the truth.
case in point.
A friend came over to store on the weekend of the 14th to get the combat jersey for a present. she was told that they will not be making the combat jerseys this year. Monday it was all over the news site the 10 teams selected for this year.

Many people have emailed and called looking for LAST YEAR'S Pro Combat uniforms — white jerseys with the orange/green numbers — that we special ordered and stocked well after others, due to our relationship with Nike. (They allowed us to custom order hundreds more, while other shops didn't do so.)
We've know for a long while that new-look jerseys were coming this fall and our GM saw them unveiled at a trade show in Atlanta a few weeks back.
If someone in store misinformed her or she misunderstood what they meant, so be it but as far as being close with Nike and privy to the latest coming out of their warehouses, we are much closer to the situation than most folks supposedly "in the know" on the message boards.
please tell me that the green helmet is a joke. that's worse than putting an upside down U on the helmets

I think if they are gonna bust out an all orange then go with the white helmets. If they are gonna go with all green then yeah a bad ass metallic green would be awesome to go with that. I've always loved an all white it just looks clean. Now with that being said the u needs to come up with a green/orange and white trimed u black helmet black jersery with green trim like the orange jersey now with white number and lettering trimed in oranged and black pants with of course black socks and cleats. Its the U we should have the most uni options in the nation and of course a black out night at the stadium. Now these jerseys should only be warn against fsu or vtech

Hey guys lets start up a campaign for the all black uniforms with orange&green stripes on the side, coupled with black helmets that have the classic orange/green "U" logo on the side. If enough fans demand it I am sure someone will listen. I want to see those at some point in my lifetime dammit.
PS-i agree with concerned and Efren said, those green helmets sound a little iffy and im not totally sold on them.

our colors are orange, green, and white….no black. Throwback unis are ok for a gimmick game, but should not be used for big games…..

I don't have an issue with the combat uni's although from the photo, it kind of reminds me of the VTech uni's and that make me up-chuck. I would take these over the all-white ones from last year. Whether you love them or hate them, the point is that The U is one of 10….10!..programs out of 119 or whatever we're up to in D1 teams to be selected. To me, that's an honor. I don't mind change. It's all about exposure, and we need it to compete nowadays, being a small, private school. I will worry about our play, and admire the uni's. Some years will be better than others. I don't mind these.

Just for the record, and I hope anyone who knows the players or staff will let them know, the OSU contingent up here think The Canes are THIRD toughest team they play this year – behind Iowa and Wisconsin. To me as a Cane fan, I'm insulted. I hope we slap the sh*t out of the Suckeyes and ruin their season before it really gets started. Let's do this.

You dont change the helmet. It should ALWAYS remain white with the U on the sides, no IF's AND's or BUT's. I dont mind the uniform but i HATE the idea they are changing the helmet.
The new one's are kinda fruity but a definite improvement over last year! I definitely agree that its an honor just to be one of the top ten teams to get a uni…..I may be in the tiny minority, but I wanna see an all black uni, with a black helmet, and honestly, I love our logo, but if an all black uni with a black helmet came out, it would be sweet to have a double hurricane warning flag on the side!

Hector, last year's Pro Combat stuff is one and done.
We were simply stating that we made several custom orders after that original allotment. They were all sold out by April 2010. Only place you'll find them these days are eBay … priced WAY too high. Good luck.
