Some quick thoughts from the first day of camp. Take into consideration that we are only allowed to see a few light drills and stretching
– Kicking is an adventure no matter who is doing it. This is something that has to get worked out before Labor Day.
– Mark D’Onofrio is working with the returners and was getting on them for their technique. Head coach Al Golden said yesterday that he doesn’t believe in gimmicks on returns.
-The offensive line looks athletic, fast and lean. It looks like everyone lost weight and an even bigger shame, the fact that Seantrel Henderson looked to be in great shape – almost a different person, after losing close to fifty pounds. He’ll have surgery next week and despite the remaining talent and new assignments, you have to believe he’ll be missed.
– We didn’t see much actual football day one. The quarterbacks were throwing a bit and there was little to take away from the experience other than to say both Jacory Harris and Stephen Morris both looked good and healthy.
– Before practice we got a chance to talk to some players and Coach Golden and the overall consensus is that there’s a different feeling coming into camp this year. The team seems much more together and the conditioning in the off-season appears to have made a big difference.
– I talked to Shane McDermott and he’s pumped up regarding his battle at center with Tyler Horn. He said that he went into the off-season feeling it was his job to lose and come September that may just be the case.
– ‘Quote Of The Day’ – from J12 regarding the expectations of the 2011 Hurricanes: “Undefeated is realistic. Not winning games is realistic. If being 14-0 is being the best, then that’s what we want to do.”
– In case you missed it, Harris and Morris used Twitter to wish each other luck going into camp:
Harris to Morris : @12JHarris12 @S_Morris17 a bra,I love ya and let’s make this the best year ever. You’re a great QB and person and I wish you nothing but the best!
Morris to Harris : @S_Morris17 @12JHarris12 Lets do it bra, I love ya to man you taught me a lot and I’m so grateful for that, let’s make this special bra…
