Miami Hurricanes’ head coach Jim Larranaga finally got his big man on Thursday night when 6-foot-8, 230-pound Omar Sherman pledged his allegiance to “The U”.
Sherman is a three-star power forward out of Prime Prep Academy in Dallas, Texas who chose Miami over Wichita State, Weber State and North Texas.
With commitments from four-star point guard Ja’Quan Newton and two-guard James Palmer, Miami is working to reload after losing the majority of last year’s squad, who were ACC regular season and conference tourney champs, en route to the Sweet 16.
Miami also reeled in Kansas State point guard Angel Rodriguez this offseason, a point guard who will redshirt this season, as well as Belgian point guard Manu LeComte. The Hurricanes also welcome back Donnovan Kirk, a forward who started at Miami, transferred to DePaul but is headed back to Coral Gables for one season as a grad student.
