Newton To Join Larranaga’s Hurricanes

Miami Hurricanes head coach Jim Larranaga just reeled in another good one as 6-foot-3 guard Ja’Quan Newton is headed to The U for the 2014-2015 season.

Newton is a highly-coveted four-star guard out of St. John Newmann in Philadelphia and he chose Miami over Syracuse, Minnesota, Oregon, UCLA and a few others.

Newton is considered an aggressive guard, is ranked eighth nationally at his position and is one of the top fifty overall players in the nation.

Newton’s commitment comes days after Larranaga and the Canes reeled in guard James Palmer out of St. John’s College High School out of Washington D.C.. Palmer is a two-star talent. Miami also has a commitment out of Orlando-based guard Adonys Henriquez, a three-star prospect, for 2014.

    1. … reported by multiple news outlets nationally and regionally. Only Newton knows how solid his commitment is. Anyone reporting anything to the contrary has no idea.

Minnesota, who was also recruiting Newton very hard was putting the news out there that Miami won the Newton lottery. Take it for what its worth. Until the ink is dry, these kids can flip flop. Just reporting what’s been reported. Sounds solid, but who knows.
