Will it be another occasion where the freaks come out at night? Hope so. It was announced earlier that the Miami Hurricanes and Ohio State Buckeyes are headed for a prime time kickoff on Saturday September 17th when the two square off at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. Miami fell at Ohio State last September, 36-24.
The ACC announced Wednesday that this will be a nationally televised game, either broadcast on ESPN or ABC at 7:30pm or 8:00pm ET.
Ohio State will be a half dozen Buckeyes short as head coach Jim Tressel, along with quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Daniel Herron, wide receiver DeVier Posey, defensive end Solomon Thomas and offense lineman Mike Adams, were sidelined for five games by the NCAA last December.
The aforementioned players got in hot water over selling championship rings, jerseys and awards to the owner of a Columbus (OH) tattoo parlor, while their head coach was punished for both knowledge of the events, as well as attempts to cover up.
This marks the fourth game time announced for the Canes this year and the third in prime time. Miami open the season with a Labor Day 8pm ET kickoff at Maryland, on ESPN. On Thursday October 27th, it’s an 8pm ET home kickoff against Virginia and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Miami welcomes Boston College at 3:30pm ET, November 25th on ABC.
