allCanes iPhone app launch party a hit…

Our GM Harry Rothwell sent over the following email regarding last night’s allCanes iPhone app launch party on Wednesday night:

“First off, a special thanks to everyone who showed up last night. There were just under a hundred diehard Cane fans who made the trek to Smoke’t Southern Kitchen in Coral Gables and it was an orange and green-themed evening in the dead of summer, which is always a blast.

We had Brian ‘The Beast’ London broadcasting from 6pm to 8pm where he interviewed me about the app, as well as former professional mascot John Routh. Having ‘The Beast’ on hand with the radio show really gave the event that ‘big time’ feel we were hoping for and John came from the Tom Kearns Hall of Fame with four trophies for the fans to pose with, most notably Vinny Testaverde’s 1986 Heisman Trophy. (For live audio of Beast’s broadcast, click here.)

For those in attendance, photographer Omar Vega snapped some great pics which are posted here. You can save the lower-res images to post on Facebook and what not, but if you want higher-res versions for any reason, you can shoot Omar an email.

Sebastian The Ibis was in the house, riling up fans, doing chants and getting everyone fired up. Our good buddy Lamar Thomas also made an appearance. LT is always great in situations like these and has stepped up countless times for allCanes. We truly appreciate all he’s done for us over the years. #36 is an all-time Cane great and he trekked all the way down from Dolphins Football Camp to support the cause. Very cool of him.

A lot of C-A-N-E-S cheers going on with Sebastian before the raffle for the iPod Touch we gave away. Also gave away a slew of “The U Invented Swagger” and “I Like This” tees, which were a hit.

Smoke’t chef Michael Altman and long-time UM baseball announcer Jay Rokeach sat down for an interview, as well. A diehard Cane, Micheal welcomed us with open arms and was a great host. All of the Smoke’t folks were great and helped make for an amazing evening. Great food and drink specials on their behalf and definitely a spot that diehard Canes need to check out and support.

Thanks to everyone who showed up. Without you these events would be meaningless. Further proof that there’s something special about our close-knit U Family.

Furthermore, thanks to everyone who has purchased the official allCanes iPhone app via iTunes. Because of you we are currently the number two-rated app in iTunes’ Lifestyle category and the #21 top-grossing paid app, too. All reviews in iTunes thus far have been five stars, which is very rewarding as we put some serious heart and soul into creating this app for the fans.

For those of you who still haven’t downloaded the allCanes iPhone app, click here to do so! Go Canes!”
