The generous donation will go towards enhancing the locker room, coaches offices, team meeting rooms and conference rooms. Due to the philanthropic gesture, the UM football locker room will be named after The Rock.
“This very generous donation by the Johnsons is just another example of their support for the University of Miami,” said Randy Shannon. “Every time one of our players walks through the door into the locker room, they will be reminded of what UM has meant to Dwayne and Dany and reinforce their commitment to the Hurricane family.”
The U doesn’t get that big time state funding other universities receive. Miami oft needs to shuck, jive and do whatever it takes to keep the funds coming in and grow the program on its own. Hopefully the Johnson’s generous donation reminds some other former Cane greats that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Thanks, Rock and keep the checks coming, former Canes.
