If Art was still around here I can tell you one thing, there would have never been a dull or lackadaisical day a greentree.
Miami hasn't had the talent at OL for years and that's Art's fault. He never went after the right guys. Like you said, he recruited guys that were like him. Undersized but with heart. That's great for a movie like "Rudy", but in real life it's all about talent. There's no substitute for tall, heavy and strong linemen with good technique. Miami never got those guys under Art and if they did get a big guy, he was usually show and unathletic.
I like the five new linemen of the last two classes, but they better pan out and we better get 3-4 more guys in next year's class. The Canes need a solid line to protect Jacory and to assist the run. Right now this is another decent line with old vets that haven't panned out and young guys who are yet to have an impact. It needs to all come together or this can be another rough year.
We should have never gotten rid of Art Kehoe, he exemplified what the 'Canes are about, guys like that you never let go. BRING COACH KEHOE BACK!!!
THE TRUTH!!! I figured U out truth or should I say allcane..
Congrats Art. It'll be a great celebration. With that in mind, Ole Miss is the right place for you.
Solid article, AllCanes.
oh just hire KC Jones!!
Sept. 7...GET HUNGRY CANES!!!
this is one thing that has always bothered me as being a long time cane fan...is how quick most of our fans are to say get this guy out of here or fire him...like stoutland...he is doing a nice job and is recruiting and winning in the trenches on many cases in the recruiting wars..i know randy is going into his third year and some people are saying if he does not get it done this year he should be gone...to me that is ludacris...how does anyone really think we are going to get this program turned around in such a bad state by just firing coach after coach and having to keep installing new scheme after new scheme...these players will never develop like this...i guess i am just a realist on this...we have got to take our green and orange shades off for a bit...give stoutland similar time we gave art...and i can bet you great things will happen...the same with randy...i mean his first top flight recruiting class are sophmores...you have to give coaches a four year go from their first class to see if anything will happen...i keep saying it..give all these guys a chance...keep them on board...keep the energy down there...the recruiting...the motivating and we will be back where we want to be...we are probablly three years away to be realistic...i dont want to see another kyle wright i feel aweful for the kid...went through what 3 or 4 oc's and is struggling to make a nfl team as a free agent...we have ruined kids these past 4-6 years because of shit like this...and people forget it is these kids that this is all about...these young men that work their asses off for us a die hard fans... i guess i am just a players fan and a players coach speaking get a grip with this firing shit...i dont want to see another country club larry win with butch davis players...if we keep on this track...jacory will turn out like kyle wright...and someone else will win with randy's players...just stupid
va cane
Good points, VA... and again, the reason I wrote what I wrote above. A reminder that Art's career was a little sloppy down the stretch.
Any fans who think Miami is back, they're wrong. Not yet. With this schedule 8-4 would be a solid. 9-3 would be great. 7-5 would be acceptable... as long as there was growth and the team improved as the year went on.
All this talk about getting rid of Shannon, I wonder if our superfans remember that nobody else wanted this job.
All this talk about Tommy Tuberville waiting in the wings -- that's message board chatter. Miami is a tough gig, this is a big time clean up effort and Shannon is working tirelessly to get things right. People need to give it time. Shannon. Stoutland. Young players waiting to develop. The talent is returning, but depth is being built and newbies are getting experience. That doesn't happen overnight.
What time is the Spring game at Lockhart Stadium tomorrow?
