Northwestern’s Bridgewater & Rogers commit to UM

So much for all that “Miami’s pipeline to Northwestern is closing” talk after last year’s recruitment of Todd Chandler. The Canes just hauled in two commitments from current Bulls – quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wideout Eli Rogers.

Bridgewater is another dual-threat quarterback with a four-star ranking and carries 185 pounds on his 6’3″ frame. Bridgewater let it be known that he’s been a silent commitment for a while and that going to UM was always part of his plan.

The quarterback still take some recruiting trips, but he’s sold on the hometown program. Bridgewater completed 165 of 262 passes for 2,546 yards, 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as a junior and ran for 379 yards and five touchdowns.

Rogers is a 5’10” and 180 pound receiver with offers from UM, Louisville, Central Florida, FIU and South Florida. He finished third on the team at Northwestern as a junior with 35 catches for 551 yards and 11 touchdowns.

  • It's nice to hear some good news on the recruiting front. We seemed to be stuck on two commits forever while our enemies have been racking them up. Time for Coach Shannon to close the deal and start reeling them in for '11. Get back to the State of Miami philosophy and let 'em know we are The U. Two great additions.

  • I dont like the whole verbal commit thing. I just wait until signing day. But I do like these additions Teddy Bridgewater should be the heir apparent to J.Harris and E.Rodgers should provide depth. I also seen that Bridgewater is recruit some other talented players that Miami is recruiting...

  • BZcanes here-

    This is outstanding news.
I've been a big Bridgewater fan, and I think with a little more development he could be a more athletic version of Jacory.

Plus--it's a statement that the pipeline is still in tact!

Shannon's contract finally getting done had to play a role in why he is committing now.

Now lets beat the Aggies tonight!

  • I love how Teddy is starting to recruit players to join him at Miami. He told Scout.com that he's going to talk to James Wilder Jr., Kevlin Benjamin and all the other big-time recruits and get them to come to The U.

  • I was wondering about Seantrel Henderson, with how hard the NCAA came down on USC.

Apparently though, he already did sign with USC.

Even if he did want out he would still have to sit a year. Oh, well!

Also, with the changes that already have happened with Nebraska and Colorado and what is looking like the fall of the Big-12, I still keep hearing about the possibility of Miami and FSU going to the SEC.

allCanes... What are you hearing about this?

With that said, as far as Hurricanes baseball.

    Let's kick some Gator ass!!
