UPS is looking for the best “football town businesses” in the nation, fans spoke up and we’ve made the top ten—with the tip five designated as an official “UPS Football Town Business Landmark”.
Canes fans can vote between now and October 23rd, with the winners announced on the 24th. Please click here to vote!
For those who don’t know our backstory, we’ve been doing this since our doors opened in 1959—when we were humbly known as All Sports; a typical sporting goods store.
In the 1980’s, as the University of Miami’s football program rose up—being a shop owned by long-time Canes fans, we quickly migrated to an orange and green-themed shop that was all about The U.
We’ve had the same owners since 1974 and same general manager since 1991, living and dying with this program through a slew of ups and downs over the past four decades.
Our mail order business began growing in the early nineties—long before ordering online was so commonplace. Our allCanes Catalogs were delivered to customers’ door steps every summer as we brought you the latest and greatest in U-themed gear.
All throughout that era—and ever since—UPS has been part of our family. Back in the day Robert was our loyal driver and these days, it’s our main-man Danny. Great service, always getting our back and taking care of our customers.
In the big-box era of retail, allCanes remains the last of a dying breed and has become a U-themed institution over the years.
It remains that first and last stop for fans and alum on their way in or out of town and even with the Orange Bowl no more and Sun Life Stadium the new home of the Canes, game days still bring lines out the door as we have that “Cheers”-like vibe; familiar faces, comfortable, games playing on the flat-screens and a perfect place to talk Miami football and to run into old friends.
Please help us take home this title by voting here, as we want to do right by “The U” and to bring home the hardware. Thank U, CanesFam.
