Way to go CANES!!!!
Stephen Morris getting it done….nice job kid! I didn't get to watch this one and thank God for that but a win is a win. Certainly Lamar gets more touches after his performance today yeah?
Allcanes, I'm interesed to hear your thoughts on the QB situation. 1. Do we stay with Morris? 2. Why was Morris ever the 4th string? My view as a fan- Morris makes good decisions, looks calm and has a rocket for an arm. I almost feel bad saying that because Harris was so heralded coming to Miami. Their is absolutely no question regarding his issues with floating long passes. Do we have a QB controversy and if so is this good or bad for the team. Appreciate your thoughts.
what was the official attendance? It looked pretty empty on TV. Whats the deal?
Tremendous throw by Morris at the end. Of course there are still a lot of things to work on and penalties are killing us! The biggest thing that needs work though is our fan base. How can we intimidate the opposition and get our guys fired up if our fans don't show up for the game? Oh that's right, its cause they are busy on "The U"'s facebook page and all over random message boards bitching and moaning about the team and our coach. Would I love to see some "old school" Miami ball played on Saturdays? Yes. Would I love to see some fire from Shannon on the sideline? Yes. But I'm not going to go complain and ask for a new coach and a new QB. I guess I'm just one of those old fashioned guys who supports my team no matter what. Well, I've vented a little. Love the blog and even have it saved as my homepage. GO CANES!
It was a a crazy win. Stephen Morris is legit. I want to point out the crazy fact that FSU blew out Miami a few backs only to lose to UNC who was blown out by Miami. Virginia held down Miami's offense until the 4th while Duke scored 50 some points on them who Miami sloppily dominated a few weeks back. Is it the inconsistency of the ACC or of Miami or is it both(if that makes sense)? I hate reading all the negativity and the "experts" who criticize the Canes on message boards, it's sickening. I still believe in Randy Shannon and these Canes and I hope they beat GaTech and VaTech.
You're right. Issues remain but it's good to see the sense of urgency they played with. I like how Morris plays like he is having fun out there. Reminds me of how Jacory was 2 years ago when he was splitting time with Marve. The attitude was infectious. If Jacory does play again, I hope it doesnt kill the momentum and buzz that Morris starting to build. Although the offense and defense goes through peaks and valleys the one thing that is consistent is the special teams. As in consistently bad. Special teams have gone on a decline since Ohio State. Even extra point kicks are no longer a given. This team can beat the Marylands and the Dukes that way but GA tech and Va tech are 2 teams that will exploit this big time.
A Win is Win. For a few minutes I thought the phantom face-mask was going to be the end. However the Canes showed some real character in this win. Congrats. Go Canes
Give the Canes a lot of credit for fighting for 60 minutes. If this were a couple weeks ago, this team probably doesn't pull this one out. I'm proud of them for not quitting. You're right to say it wasn't pretty (penalties and missed tackles still linger), but at this point in the season, you have to take any win you can get. What can you say about Morris that hasn't already been said? The guy just seems to make plays. Rocky start, but how you finish is what's important. Let's not anoint the guy as our 'Savior' just yet, but how can you not be impressed by what he's done? Of course, the coaches will say there's "no controversy", but you have to wonder how this will affect Harris. Personally, if Morris can pull out another victory this coming weekend, why not start him the rest of the season? I would think he would've earned it at that point. Aside from that, this was definitely a great thing for Miami's offense, because they finally ran the ball effectively like they are capable of. I'm still worried about our defensive performances however. I would caution folks not to sleep on GT. They came within a breath of upsetting VT and could very well upset the Canes, if their fundamentals are lacking this week. And what's the deal with Bosher? I would seriously consider using another kicker or going for 2 from here on out. I believe that's 4 straight. However many it is, it's too damn much, especially for a guy that was a Groza candidate coming into the season. I just hope this team can rally around each other and get it done these remaining games. Looking forward to the challenge…
They won and that is something, especially considering last week.
To above, Morris was redshirted that is why he was 4th string.
I was at the game. From the stands it looked like Randy was going to have an aneurysm a couple of times. He actually almost threw his headset. That's probably about as fired up as he gets. Fun game, great weather – too bad the fan base didn't turn out.
