With so much heaviness going on in our world right now, allCanesBlog.com has decided to have some fun, to rally the U Family and to see if we can unite and make some noise for a lighthearted cause.
We’ve launched a petition asking the University of Miami, the Collegiate Licensing Committee, the NCAA, an whoever else will listen, to BRING BACK OUR VINTAGE SEBASTIAN THE IBIS LOGO, complete with orange top, face bandage and corn-cob pipe!

Will this change anything? No idea, but it will be an interesting study regarding how much or little fans of Miami Football feel about the version of our mascot so synonymous with good times and winning ways.
This bandage-wearing, pipe-smoking Sebastian represents the Canes’ ascension to the top of the college football world, a “Decade Of Dominance”, a handful of titles, a brash type of player and the attitude that berthed the now overused term, “swagger”.
Third-year head coach Al Golden made it clear when taking over this Miami program in December 2010 that he knows how strong this brand is.
Golden is trying to restore the attitude, winning ways, properly-conditioned, hard-working mindset and cosmetically he’s even embraced old school ways by pushing back from the alternate green jersey that was birthed in the late nineties, opting for the classic home orange and away white tops.
There is no bigger cosmetic change for Miami Football, and this athletic department as a whole than brining back our bad-ass Ibis that had a little bit of edge – which is what The U is all about.
Please sign the petition, spread the word and for grins, let’s see how far we can take this little fun-loving cause. Crazier things have happened and again, we’re talking about a logo here – not an on-campus stadium!

Great idea on trying to bring back the Old School Sebastian, I love that Mascot and always look for it when I am somewhere that sells vintage U items. No luck yet.

Also would love to see Miami stickers on the front of the helmets! Do not like ACC badge on our glorious lineage.
