A very special, over-the-top, open, honest, unfiltered edition of the allCanes Radio CanesFix this morning as Brian ‘The Beast’ London shares audio from a very candid interview with Mr. Kehoe, the most spirited offensive line coach in the nation.
Click here for the raw and open sit-down with Art.
Honestly, can’t think of a lifer Cane that Miami fans should root harder for. Former player an assistant with all five rings, as well as a scapegoat in the Larry Coker era after the 2005 Peach Bowl debacle, fired after almost three decades at UM while Coker bought himself one more year before his time was up.
Two years at Ole Miss were followed by three in the UFL with the California Redwoods before head coach Al Golden made the call and brought Art home for the 2011 season.
A second chance at a dream job, after spending half a decade essentially exiled from home? Not too many stories like that in this day and age.
One can only imagine the feeling Kehoe felt when rung up by Golden, as well as his overall approach to another shot at ‘The U’ – older, wiser and having learned from past mistakes.
There were probably many sleepless nights in Oxford, playing the “what if?” and dreaming aloud how he’d take on another shot coaching up the Canes’ offense line. That day is here and an added bonus in doing so under Golden, as opposed to his final five seasons watching the Coker era erode from within.
When asked if he’s still having fun, Kehoe made it clear, “”It’s the greatest thing in the world. I love being a Miami Hurricane. And I love being a Miami Hurricane under Al Golden.”
Normally we’d throw in some printed quotes – a Cliff Notes version for those too lazy to listen, but not doing that this time. This piece is too good.
Make time to check the interview for more Kehoe gold. It’s more than worth the listen.
