To hell with all the corrupt City of Miami politicians who let this happen. We live in a day and age where money is all that matters and we’ll sell out a hundred years of tradition for a buck. Pathetic.
The Orange Bowl teardown is underway – see photos below – and for anyone who sat in that stadium and cheered the Canes (or Dolphins) on to victory – today is a dose of reality nobody was ready for. It was one thing to ‘hear’ the OB would soon be gone, but watching it torn apart by machines? It’s gut wrenching. These photos may as well be of a loved one on that conveyor belt going into the flames at a crematorium.
I “get” the business decision behind this as it didn’t make sense to sink $200-300M into a stadium that saw use six Saturdays a year. But I don’t get why 1) renovations weren’t made a decade ago, before little problems became big ones and 2) why the city couldn’t find something to do with the stadium the other 359 days per year. There had to be SOME want to generate some revenue here.
C’est la vie. What’s done is done. One last farewell to my ol’ girl the O.B. and one last F.U. to the scumbags who let this nightmare become a reality…
