  1. HUGE GAME fellow Canes.

I'm making the trip down from Tampa.

I hope the fans come out in full force, and make our home field a definite advantage.

With all the injuries UNC is suffering on the 0-line this could become a 3 team race.

The game on Thursday will go a long way in getting to our first ACC champ game.

Anyone who can make it…make it!
I've never seen the Canes lose in person….6-0 when I'm watching in person including 3 bowl games.

Lets keep that streak, and the momentum going!

    Bzcanes

  2. Unfortunately this game will be ugly for Miami…

Very similar to last year, when the Jackets rushed the ball down out throats…even though everyone in the building knew GA Tech was gonna run it…

  3. allcanes the biggest game of the year IS tomorrow…this is not a true canes blog! YOU have not written anything!

COME ON MAN, REPRESENT THE U!!!!

  4. …. it's early, Anonymous and this is the World Wide Intraweb. An article doesn't have to be posted the same time your paper is delivered. My Miami/Georgia Tech ink will be live by day's end, brother!

  5. CitizenCane what makes you think things will go like they did last year? Don't get me wrong this game is much more troublesome than the FSU game but I definitely don't think things will go as they did last year. Moncur, McCarthy and Phillips didn't play in this game last year and our freshmen are a year older, stronger and wiser. The real news though is that we finally have an offense to match GT on the score board!

  6. GA Tech has beaten us 4 straight times (twice with Reggie Ball at QB!) and they are a lot more physical…

Whipple's play-calling is refreshing, but we all thought Miami was on its way last year after they beat VA Tech and look what happened…

  7. CCane, no ego intended, but I really thought we had no chance last year against Tech. Too much had already been written about that team; that game didn't need to be played for it to come true. While I think it is wholly premature to forecast a blowout on our side, there is no reason why we should expect a repeat of last year. Whipple's offense isn't "refreshing", it's decisive & conference changing (admittedly, through one game)….

We aren't banged up (actually healthier than last week), we have a DC who has played against this scheme multiple times & players the same; a cohesive offense that can light up the scoreboard against a med-ACC secondary, & Clemson (!?) exposed the vulnerability of the Ramblin' Wreck's potency–in Atlanta.

I think we have a solid chance.

Citizen, whether Miami wins or not… I don't buy into your logic.

What do the last four losses have to do with today? Entering 2000, Florida State and Virginia Tech had each beaten Miami five straight – and look how that turned out. Streaks are made to be broken. The game is cyclical. Things eventually come around.

2005-2008 were different teams than 2009. The talent is returning and the Canes have their best offensive coordinator in upwards of twenty years.

14-10 in 2005 thanks to Dan Werner calling plays (getting owned by Jon Tenuta) and Kyle Wright unable to make plays.

30-23 in 2006… 17-14 in 2007… both games could've gone either way. Miami didn't have the horses and GT made a few more plays.

As for 2008, no excuses. Tech ran all over the Canes. Eric Moncur, Colin McCarthy and Randy Phillps were all out — which turned a team with a solid rushing defense early in the year into a sloppy one as the year wound down. Reliant on too many freshman and lacking depth, Miami couldn't hang with Georgia Tech.

Miami will move the ball this year and will score points. GT won't be playing with a monstrous lead. 41-10 entering the fourth last year? That was an utter beatdown.

Score points, move the chains and make Tech one-dimensional. If Miami puts up points, Josh Nesbitt will have the throw. The same Nesbitt who was a Kirby Freeman-esque 1-of-11 at one point last week against Clemson. (He finished 3-of-14 for 83 yards, 0 TD and 2 INT.)

As for the notion that Miami was 'back' after the win over Virginia Tech, that's bogus. Maybe some bleeding hearts felt that, but if that's the case they're ignorant.

Miami won 16-14 in a game where a few magical fumbles fell back into the Canes' hands down over the course of the night. A two-point game that literally came down to a play here or there.

Same for a 24-17 OT at Virginia a week earlier. Same for a 16-10 win over Wake the week before that. All three games could've been losses. Instead Miami found a way to win. That wasn't fait accompli regarding an ACC title. It was a "one game at a time" season last year and nothing was expected. The five game win-streak made as much sense as the three game losing streak.
