Whitlock Talks Robinson / Shapiro on FOX

It’s definitely ‘turn the page’ time (for now) regarding Nevin Shapiro, the Yahoo! story, reporter Charles Robinson and all that’s mucked up the Miami Hurricanes’ “pre-season”.

That said, compelling radio is compelling radio and the most recent Jason Whitlock podcast is worth the listen whether you’re over the story, into the story, all about ‘The U’ or a casual sports fan with no Miami allegiance.

Whitlock and Robinson had a war of Tweets days back and Robinson took his grievance to Nick Wright (who?) at 610 Sports in Lawrence, KS but failed to go toe-to-toe with Whitlock on his show today.

Robinson has the burning desire to fight back and defend himself against all and any allegations of irresponsible journalism – but seems to do so with even more irresponsible journalism. Before talking to Wright instead of Whitlock, Robinson ‘accepted questions’ on a UM site a week ago where fans wrote in and he responded with the written word.

There was no real-time conversation and no putting Robinson on the spot in either case, as he had time to think about how he’d answer the UM fan base and with Wright, he was lobbed softballs by a lesser interviewer who had his back, while chastising Whitlock’s recent write up regarding what he deemed was an irresponsible eleven-month investigation by Robinson. (Ward cites Whitlock’s motivation as being jealous of the Yahoo! team for getting so much attention.)

Whitlock’s podcast on Wednesday featured Tom Anderson, who works for the National Legal and Policy Center, an organization that investigates political corruption.

Listen to both shows and draw your own conclusions. Pay attention to who comes off logical and who sounds loud, emotional and irrational while backpedal and working overtime to prove themselves. Pay attention to who is interviewed by a ‘yes’ man and who features a logical guest who not only help support the host’s argument, but made his own valid claims.

Whitlock reached out to Robinson this morning but couldn’t get him on today’s show. Will Robinson sack up and eventually accept the invite to go toe-to-toe? Whitlock made some valid points and Robinson should have the desire to defend himself.

Stay tuned for what develops next.
