Six new Miami Hurricanes enroll early

The college football circle of life continues. The past few weeks have been bogged down with the talk of six Miami Hurricanes transferring and today it shifts to a half dozen new ones getting on board.

Six members of the 2011 Signing Class have officially enrolled in Summer I session and the group began classes on May 18th.

“We are excited to have the group of young men on campus for summer session,” said head coach Al Golden. “It is very advantageous to the guys who are here early. They get ahead in academics, get a feel for the ‘lay of the land’, get to know their teammates and not only do they get a leg up on conditioning, but they begin the adjustment process sooner.”

Miami welcomes in two transfers; Broward County native Ryan Williams, a 6-foot-6 and 220-pound quarterback who started 10 of 13 games at Memphis last season (who will sit out the 2011 season per standard transfer rules) and the other, Michael Williams, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound defensive back from Wake Forest with one year of eligibility and ready to play immediately, adding depth to a depleted position.

True incoming freshman who recently started classes; wide receivers Philip Dorsett and Rashawn Scott and linebacker Gionni Paul. Miami also added JUCO transfer and defensive tackle Darius Smith.

Several more members of the 2011 Class are expected to enroll during the second summer session which is slated to begin on June 29. Welcome to The U, gentlemen. Now get to work.
