You’re pretty much in bad-ass-status if the NFL looks to create a rule based solely around you. It was shot down earlier today, but the Devin Hester Rule was on the table and being considered.
The League was considering legislating against punting out of bounds — which seemed to be the norm the past few seasons regarding Hester’s ability to find the end zone seconds after that ball hit him in the mitts.
Kind of a corn-ball rule and proposal, but still pretty cool if you’re Hester.
I guess that’s bound to happen when you house 11 returns after only two short seasons in the NFL and you house the opening kick of Super Bowl XLI.
I am proud he yet another difference maker from The U. I just always wonder why we never got the ball in his hands like we should have. He’s the rare type of player who can really score anytime he touches the ball. What if…..

We did get the ball in his hands. He was a game breaker, he was the sole reason we won 9-10 games his sophmore year. I remember his first ever touch, I believe it was a 100+ yard kickoff return againts UiF. It was beautiful. And we all have to remeber the head fake that broke Louisville’s Punter’s ankles. Or how about the return that didn’t even count against Duke. But my all time favorite Hester moment was when he scopped up the blocked FG agaisnt the Gators in the Peach Bowl and simply used his blazing speed to dust the orange and blue jersey’s before High-Stepping-Deon-Sanders-style into the endzone. Mad props to Devin “Anytime” Hester, I still wear my #4 UM jersey proud on Saturdays, as well as my 23 Bears jersey on Sundays.
