More Info On The ‘Get-Down In Chi-Town’

The party of the year is set and the only thing missing is the U Family, but come Friday night we the #CanesFam will take over Roots Pizza in Chicago and come Saturday, Miami will take care of Notre Dame at Soldier Field. Some notes regarding the event:

– The pre-sale for the allCanes ‘Get-Down In Chi-Town’ sold out on Monday September 24th. We promoted the event heavily on our Facebook page and via our Twitter account. For those of you who missed it, fear not as it will be first come/first serve on Friday night at roots. There is still enough room to jam several members of the U Family into the event, but be there lined up and ready to go by 7pm to secure a spot.

– For those of you who are already on the guest list, please contact us immediately to let us know the names of the other people in your party so that we can best set-up a process to get everyone situated in an orderly manner. Either call 800.226.4247 (IBIS) or email allCanes@bellsouth.net before day’s end on Thursday October 4th.

– We’re working on a Friday night playlist, so email song ideas to Canes305 and he’ll help get our DJ dialed in for the event. We have all the general staples — from “In The Air Tonight” and “Rock You Like A Hurricane” to stuff by Pitbull, Uncle Luke, DJ Khaled, Trick Daddy, Poison Clan, Rick Ross, J.T. Money and others who will bring some 305 flavor to the Midwest.

Still, keep the hits coming so we can make our presence felt!

  • I s U ggest U'all loyal Hurricane fandom attending the above-mentioned Orange n' Green FESTIVITIES, to DRESS bery, bery WARMLY come Saturday night! LOL
And I do mean W-A-R-M-L-Y!! dUh Because ain't nothing like a BONE CHILLING Chicago early, night time October breeze, to let the individual know they not in s U nny climates no more. LMFAO
    Bon jour

  • I bloody wel look for that PHIL STEELE to continue his touting streak AGAINST the Hurricanes. That Mr. Steele had LAMELY predicted Golden's squad to lose to both Ga. Tech and N.C.ST. Go bloody figures'. Eh.
So it's natural he forcasts a ' double-digit ' win for Notre Dame. dUh
I guess he ain't seen Miami's HIGH OCTANE offense lately. LOL

  • Seriously though Hurricane fandom. It's a bloody FAIT ACCOMPLI, that the Hurricane's offense will have to SHINE BRIGHTLY on a cold, cold, cold CHI-TOWN night. It would also help Cane football matters, that the Hurricane special teams play at least a B+ game come Saturday nite.
    Bon jour

  • Even though the Miami, F-L-A Hurricanes aren't nationally ranked, yet. At least some, but not all, of the national major college football pundits are taking note of Saturday night's nationally televised showdown.
So, enjoy the Sporting New's tidbit. Eh.
    -------------------------------------

    5. Miami vs. No. 9 Notre Dame (7:30 p.m., NBC) at Soldier Field. Oh, baby, there’s no love lost when the Fighting Irish and the Hurricanes meet on the grid … OK, that’s total baloney. Still, it’s pretty cool that ND (4-0) and The U (4-1, 3-0 ACC) are hooking up again, and on an NFL field in Chicago, too.

But Soldier Field isn’t the only thing that’ll give this game a big-time feel. How about the Hurricanes doing their part by not, you know, totally stinking? It sure appeared, after a 52-13 Week 2 loss at Kansas State, that Al Golden’s team might be a lost cause in 2012. Now Miami’s lighting up ACC scoreboards (averaging 42.3 points in league games) and threatening to force the Irish into the sort of offensive-oriented contest that could make them very uncomfortable.

  • And it's an offensive-esque type of game which the Hurricanes are going to have to play. IF the Canes are going to bloody SHOCK the major college football realm Saturday nite. dUh No if's, but's or maybe's. Eh

  • Just saw that the AD bailed on us after less than two years. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Hopefully the president will hire a strong AD who has clear vision for Miami into the long term and who wants to be here.

  • I don't gamble, but Notre Dame is a 12 1/2 point favorite against us? Really? Do they even score 12 points in games other than against Navy? That's an insult to all Canes, much like the 14 point spread against GTech. Hopefully we'll get the same W.

  • Admin: I am disturbed by the AD leaving. I remember when everybody jumped ship a few years ago and then we found out about the NCAA investigation. In retrospect I was mad at myself for not seeing that coming. Do you think, that since he was working so closely with the NCAA investigation, that he knows the severity of the sanctions and this move is a direct result of it? Or is this simply a case of a perceived better job with better pay?

    • I think from day one, Shawn Eichorst was never a Miami guy. When you read about him being nicknamed The Invisible AD and check out stories being put out there today by fans, alum and media members, this guy was never on board. This wasn't about money - it was about location. The Eichorst family never took to South Florida, never made UM home and one would guess he was looking for the first ticket out, which was why he run up his old buddy Barry Alvarez, who lobbied to Donna Shalala to get him the Miami gig, and asked for help so he could get to Lincoln.

I don't believe this has anything to do with sanctions and everything to do with a guy who was simply a bad fit.
