Two-Seed Miami Hurricanes Are Austin-Bound

The Miami Hurricanes, fresh off their ACC Tournament win over North Carolina, soon learned that a one-seed wasn’t in the cards, but number-two was a reality.

It should be noted that this is the first time in the tournament’s history that the ACC regular season winner and tournament champion did not earn a top seed. NCAA chairman Mike Bobinski said that Miami was, was “as close as you could possibly be” to being a No. 1 seed.

Miami and Gonzaga were the last two squads considered for a top-spot, with the Bulldogs edging out the Hurricanes. Other one-seeds are top overall seed Louisville, Kansas and Indiana, with the Hoosiers in Miami’s bracket.

Miami wound up in the East bracket and will open this year’s NCAA Tournament on Friday against the fifteen-seed Pacific Tigers at 2:10pm ET in Austin, Texas. A win will pit Miami against the winner of the game between seven-seed Illinois or ten-seed Colorado.
