Happy Holidays from allCanes

allCanes sends our best wishes to Hurricane Nation this Christmas morning. Another year is in the books and as a business, we’re beyond thankful for your support, patronage and love for the University of Miami, as it’s what keeps our doors open and enthusiastic about what we do.

On the football field, this wasn’t the year we expected – which obviously hurts us as fans, but as a business it takes its toll on both the cash register as well as our morale. In most cases, fans push a loss to the back of their minds by Sunday morning and go about their day-to-day come Monday. When you’re knee-deep in it as we are, you have the joy of reveling in a win all week – but the losses sting that much more.

Five losses this season in a year when the Canes were expected to be much better – but as the year wound down, an early holiday gift from UM’s administration; a message that mediocrity on the football field will not be tolerated and that the university is desperate to win again.

The Randy Shannon era came to a close and one last time we want to thank Coach for all his efforts – not just as head coach the past four seasons, but for what he did as a player and assistant over the years. Fans have their own opinions regarding Randy, but everyone should be universal in their belief that this man bleeds orange and green, has a heart for this university and gave so much of himself to this program over the past few decades, again out of love for ‘The U’.

With 2011 on the horizon, it’s Al Golden time and with a new coach brings new hope. Yes it’s early and yes Coach Golden has his work cut out for him, but a few weeks on the job he seems to be making all the right moves and has a welcomed fire, desire and passion for winning. Beyond that, there’s a game plan and time should show that Miami again nabbed an up and comer on the fast track. ( Regarding that ‘game plan’ … all I want for Christmas is a peek at the 300-page how-to-rebuild document Golden showed UM’s top brass.)

As we look back on 2010, it wasn’t all that we were hoping for on the football front – but the end result may prove to be the biggest ‘W’ this program has seen in a decade. A new regime is underway and entering 2011, there’s true reason for optimism. Plus, what better way to launch New Years Eve than with an ass-kicking of an arrogant and entitled Notre Dame program?

Thank you Hurricane Nation for another great year and looking forward to even bigger and better in ’11.
