The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Stuckey had fifteen tackles for loss and eight sacks last season and was rated the 23rd best defensive tackle coming out of high school a year ago.
Stuckey was originally recruited by Miami, but went with Florida State. Defensive line coach Jethro Franklin recently headed to Mississippi and offered Stuckey days back. Wanting to stay in the Sunshine State and with FSU not being in touch, Stuckey jumped at the UM offer.
Stuckey will be part of the 2014 signing class and plans to be on campus in January.
Defensive line help is a must for Miami, having signed no one but — in last year class. Outside of Stuckey, the Canes are heavily pursuing some quality talent and is in the running with a handful of big-time kids.
Mississippi defensive end Grant Harris has landed an offer from Miami, as has four-star Atlanta defensive tackle Elisha Shaw, who is being heavily recruited by Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Auburn and Ole Miss.
Miami is also going after three-star Brooklyn prospect Thomas Holley, who has almost two dozen offers, including The Big Three in the Sunshine State and major players like Alabama, Clemson, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee.
Three-star Nashville-based defensive tackle Michael Sawyers is also on the short list, while four star defensive tackle Travonte Valentine of Palm Bay has Miami as his leader, ahead of Alabama and Tennessee. Valentine has over two dozen other offers.
