The system fails Sean Taylor and rewards killers…

Way to get it wrong again, legal system.

Prosecutors have decided against the death penalty regarding the four scumbags charged with the murder of Miami Hurricane safety great, Sean Taylor because the accused shooter was a minor whent the killing took place.

Even if Eric Rivera was 17-years and a handful of months when he cowardly shot the Pro Bowl safety in his bedroom, it seems moronic that the others directly involved cannot be tried as adults because the minor pulled the trigger – unless they were ‘directly’ responsible. Co-defendants can’t be subject to the death penalty if the alleged shooter isn’t.

Let’s get this straight – Rivera was man enough to take a life, but due to a legal loophole, not man enough to receive a death sentence for doing so.

Pardon my French, but the irony in that is utter bulls**t and downright pathetic. Is there really that big a difference between 17-years and seven months versus 18-years of age? Rivera is legally a man now, but wasn’t last November when the thug and his cronies broke into Taylor’s home, with the intent to rob him blind?

Seeing these four scumbags pay the ultimate price wouldn’t bring Taylor back. I’m not even sure how I feel about Capital Punishment as general rule, but I do know that hearing “life in prison” for these four selfish S.O.B.’s doesn’t seem like justice to me.

Rivera and crew will pay when they finally meet their maker, but for now I pray their jail sentence shows them just how rotten this world can really be if you take a life and choose the path they’ve chosen. I

hope for them the death sentence would’ve been the easy way out and that every moment they rot in jail is a living hell for them. They deserve to forever be haunted by the memory of what they did and for taking the beloved Sean Taylor from those who needed him here.

  1. I figured that the release of this news would cause some debate. While I certainly see why a lot of people will b upset over this news, I for one see no point in killing those men.

To me, lethal injection for these guys is the easy way out. Those punks shot Sean and a result, he slowly bled to death.

Killing these punks will be easy for them. I certainly hope the life they spend in prison is an uncomfortable one. Either way, it won’t bring Sean back…

  2. No doubt these people are scumbags and deserve the punishment they will receive, however, executing minors isn’t a sound policy. First of all, execution of minors is pretty much banned throughout the world. Second, the difference between 17 and 7 months and 18 years may not be so much, but if you put a 17 and 7 month year old to death, what is the difference between 17 and 7 months and 17. It’s a slippery slope. In terms of the other guys, they are being charged under felony murder, so even though they didn’t do the killing they are still liable because the murder happened during the commission of a felony. It wouldn’t make any sense to subject them to the death penalty when the original perp cannot receive it. Anyways, this is a tragedy and hopefully this group of thugs end up slipping in the showers and don’t wake up.

  3. Fking’ Asses It hurts that they are still breating. All because of what, Fking idiots.

My issue lies in the fact that 17.7 months instead of 18 months buys all these guys a break. It’s a lucky bounce that went their way because the (alleged) shooter wasn’t quite yet 18 yet.

The whole thing sucks any way you look at it. Taylor is gone, his family is crushed and this just seems like a slap in the face.

Maybe and eye-for-an-eye is a bit brutal, but with everything so recent… you just want to see justice done and this is a break for the wrong team.

Also… how are we sure Rivera even did it? How do we know it wasn’t Hunte, Mitchell or Wardlow – two of which are 20 and one is 18?

How we even really know Rivera isn’t the scapegoat BECAUSE he was 17 and would get them ALL off?

They burned their clothes afterwards so there was no ‘proof’. I wouldn’t be shocked if the attorneys told the minor to take the fall to save all of them…

Like I said, a lucky break for the wrong team.

  6. At least they have Sean’s murderers locked up and seemingly locked away.

Wish to God we could say the same regarding the coward who shot Brian Pata in the back of the head.

Hopefully,,, after a few months of being prison bitches,,, these guys will find their demise in quite another form of the “criminal justice system.”

  7. To be honest, if I were a criminal, I’d much prefer the death sentence instead of life in the slammer. They’ll have every day of being terrified for their own lives, afraid of possible sexual abuses, etc.

  8. These are poor boys. They should spend a few years in jail and be given a chance to redeem themselves.

They killed a rich man and the rich are evil.

  9. These are poor boys. They should spend a few years in jail and be given a chance to redeem themselves.

…. yeah, these five pillars of society are going to become BETTER men when getting their asses pounded in a Miami prison for the better part of their lives. Good call.

They killed a rich man and the rich are evil.

… and you my friend, are pure scum. If the rich are evil, you are a moron.
