Tavadis Glenn kicked out of UF football camp

It’s another one of those stories that fuels a rivalry and keeps that hate pumping. Another Hatfield v. McCoys-type situation that keeps Canes and Gators at odds, even though they only meet up a few times per decade.

Miami offensive line recruit Tavadis Glenn trekked to Gainesville this weekend for the University of Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp and was eventually booted for tossing up the U hands during a drill. The Canes earned the commit from the Jacksonville Terry Parker High product, which can’t sit well – a kid from Gator Country headed to Coral Gables.

Another situation that has Canes fans high on a future recruit, while making Davis persona non grata with Gator faithful.

In case Florida fans are wondering, Davis let it be known that he understands this is how the game is played… but that he plans on making the Gators pay if/when the two teams meet up in 2013. Stay tuned.

  1. Haha gotta love the loyalty and passion he showed in repping THE U in the middle of enemy territory. That's the kind of player THE U was built on… nothing but straight swag, not giving a damn about anyone other than THE U!!!

  2. lmao thats right reppin the U even in Gator "area" (none of tht gator "country" this is CANES COUNTRY)

  3. Wow, stay classy Thug UF.

I don't know whats more pathetic, Meyer bouncning a high school kid for showing pride in his future school, or ESPN covering how Spurrier accidently didn't vote for Tebow and then came out and serviced Gator fan on his knees…

    Sheesh…

Go Canes, and it's great to see young talent pumped up about reppin their f-U-ture.

  4. He let it be "know" huh? Is that the good 'ol Miami edumacation?

    1. It was a typo and grammatical error not picked up in spell check.

    2. I earned my B.A. in English from the University of Florida, so feel free to blame it on my 'edumacation'.

  5. So as a fellow Gator, how do you end up promoting Thug U? I just don't get it.

  6. So as a fellow Gator, how do you end up promoting Thug U? I just don't get it.

Florida has over two dozen arrests on Meyer's watch, yet you're still touting the played out "Thug U" regarding Miami. Typical.

I'm no "fellow Gator". Born and raised a Cane, did my final two years at UF (like a prison sentence), got my degree and got out.

730 days in Gainesville doesn't cancel out a lifetime of being a Miami fan.

  7. I don't get why this kid was in Hogtown in the first place. If he's already a commit, he shouldn't have been there. And why does he need his "stock to rise" if he is already committed to the U and fully plans on being in Coral Gables. Shannon yanked a schollie from a kid last year when he took other visits after verbally committing.

    Also…

I actually have some reservations that he'll be able to handle Shannon's tight discipline given being booted from his original HS for being unable to follow team rules and then simply can't follow the simple instructions to take his act down a notch when requested by those running the Gate camp…

Seems he might have some discipline issues, IMO. Which certainly doesn't seem to fit with the Shannon mold as he has been recruiting since he took over the helm.

  8. all canes you become my favorite Gator grad of all time!
Comparing attending UF to a prison sentence is a classic!
Thank you for this site and that retort! I am now a loyal follower.

  9. Cat5 – I think you answered your own question without trying. Why was this *kid* in Hogtown? Because he's just that – a kid enjoying the game that is recruiting. I would assume being from Jacksonville that he had some local friends, teammates and rivals at the camp and he wanted to strut his stuff.

Just because he's "committed" to Miami, it's still a nice ego stroke to see your four-star rating jump to five. Again, these are kids and competitors. Bragging rights are on the table.

As for 'discipline issues'… I don't know if that's accurate, either. The kid simply sounds like a competitor. Throwing up the U a second time when being told not to… that's akin to an unsportsmanlike penalty when getting fired up and celebrating.

I didn't know about Davis getting booted from a previous high school… but I'm sure Randy Shannon did his due diligence on this kid and isn't recruiting a troublemaker.

  10. KplayaJA (playa in your own mind I'm sure), This is a Cane blog so don't worry about what goes on here. This blog is all things Canes. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

  11. Yeah, you guys are correct. While this is a pretty nice blog site. This is a Canes blog. I need to find a blog about Champions! Let me know when you guys are ranked in the top 25, K. Goodbye. Come watch us in 2010 in Pasadena. Go Gators!

  12. "I need to find a blog about Champions! Let me know when you guys are ranked in the top 25, K. Goodbye. Come watch us in 2010 in Pasadena. Go Gators!"

    …that right there is CLASSIC!

    5 < 2 catch up buddy, K.

  13. Yeah, you guys are correct. While this is a pretty nice blog site. This is a Canes blog. I need to find a blog about Champions! Let me know when you guys are ranked in the top 25, K. Goodbye. Come watch us in 2010 in Pasadena. Go Gators!

Overall Series: Miami 28, Florida 26.

Miami is 6-1 against Florida in the last seven meetings.

Miami has five football titles to Florida's three and has produced a boatload more NFL talent.

Miami also has a better academic ranking than Florida.

Regarding recent arrests: Gators 25, Canes 1… and that was Robert Marve, who is no longer with us.

Typical Gator lurker… confused with the overall stats.

Nice little run you had the last few years. Welcome to the post-Tebow decline next year. As for Pasadena, believe it when I see it.

A lot harder to get there with a bulls-eye on your chest… and without Percy Harvin, who made up for about half your offensive production.

Now scram, Gator… or bring something to the table other than "Thug U"… or "we're better than you".

  14. Wow! 1st of all Mr. allCanessuck… I'm living in the present NOT in the past. After this year, the Title race will be 5 UM 4 UF. 2 BCS Titles in 3 years is not too shabby.

2nd There isn't a team in the Nation as good as UF. As for NFL talent, well, I seemed to have missed the UM players picked in this year's 1st or 2nd or 3rd… here let me save you the time, THE 6th round!??? Nice NFL Talent. Let’s face it, that’s bad!

As for academics, you clearly lied because on EVERY list in the country for College Academics, Florida is ranked higher than Thug U. Here are 2 ie.
    USNews and ARW

So there you have it my Gator brother.

BTW… we’ve had a bull’s-eye on our back every since Superman stepped on campus and it’s turned out quite well.

Don’t forget, Call me when you’re in the Top 25, K.

  15. KplayaJA…. You just got owned 🙂 Time to move on.

Great story, Chris. I didn't realize you did a 2 year sentence at UF. Good God, you're a brave man.

    All About The U!

  16. We'll play along once more and then you're done here. You're a clown, a name-caller and you're a waste of everyone's time. Here goes….

Wow! 1st of all Mr. allCanessuck… I'm living in the present NOT in the past. After this year, the Title race will be 5 UM 4 UF. 2 BCS Titles in 3 years is not too shabby.

In the present it's July 2009, so by those standards your 2008 and 2006 titles are as 'old news' as Miami's from 2001.

If you're 'living in the present' then quit prognosticating some mythical fourth title that won't take place until January 2010, genius.

Simply put, blow yourself if and when Florida wins again… not when we're one month out from the season opener.

Yeah, Miami has so much to be ashamed of. 15 straight years with a first rounder. 26 first rounders this decade. 62 overall players drafted this decade. Godforbid the program has a down year or two thanks to a cancer of a coach who couldn't recruit.

Let's see where Canes from the 2008-2009 recruiting classes wind up, big boy. Clock started ticking when Shannon brought in his first class February 2008.

As for academics, you clearly lied because on EVERY list in the country for College Academics, Florida is ranked higher than Thug U. Here are 2 ie.
    USNews and ARW.

    EVERY list, eh?

I guess you missed the 2009 Academic Progress Report where Miami ranked SEVENTH, Florida ranked TWENTIETH and Florida State ranked EIGHTIETH.

    Nice research, Gator.

BTW… we’ve had a bull’s-eye on our back every since Superman stepped on campus and it’s turned out quite well.

Yeah, turned out stellar when Florida defended that 2006 title and Timmy T went 9-4 his first year as a starter.

A master debater you are not, mi amigo.

Don’t forget, Call me when you’re in the Top 25.

Please, oh please have the stones to post your number here. I'm sure my fellow Canes would love to blow you up.

Now scatter like a roach when the lights come on. We're done with you here.

  17. Kso-not-a-playaJA, you're a moron.

Quit while you're behind. You're absolutely getting owned here and can't argue your way out of a wet paper bag.

Such a typical emotional, illogical Gator. Running off of the mouth and acting like King S#!t because you guys are on top for five minutes.

Can't wait until Tebow trips up this year without Harvin. I'll bet you a month's salary (for you, probably a year's salary) that Florida doesn't reach Pasadena. Not gonna happen. Ole Miss or LSU trips you up this year. Take that to the bank.

  18. Well, your the moderator here. Didn't expect you to take you ball and run. Out.

I'm no *moderator*. I'm a fan with a blog. Nothing more, nothing less.

I let Gator fans come here and talk shit all day long. Look at some past posts and the comments sections.

What I don't need is some yahoo rolling in here with ill will, zero logic and doing nothing but name calling.

    – You started with a cheap shot about a typo.

    – You referred to Miami as 'Thug U' – and had no comeback when I pointed out Florida has had over two dozen arrests since 2006 and Miami has had ONE… but a kid who transferred from the program.

    – You took pot shots as the program and resorted to six-year old behavior, with some 'allCanesSuck' jibberish.

I mean honestly, what do you expect?

Act like an idiot, get treated like an idiot. Choose to have a logical debate and I'll go toe-to-toe with you eight days a week regarding our respective programs.

Sweet, I'll send you some extra tix to the Grandaddy of 'em all. To everyone (If the moderator doesn't bitch out) I am gone now, really. Good luck this season. You've got to admit, I made this blog 10x more interesting!

  20. Yeah, Playa, no clue what we'll do around here without your brilliant commentary. Hope we can survive.

  21. If you are going to go ad hominem over one typo in a blog composed of several paragraphs then you should really do a better job of self-editing a sentence or two of your own when you post, Kplaya.

Sniping grammar nannies need to watch their own back's extra close, you know.

    For consideration:

"Well, *your* the moderator here. Didn't expect you to take *you* ball and run. Out."

    "Your" is a possessive pronoun.
"You're" is a contraction of the words "you" and "are" and is, I believe, the word you were probably looking for.

Ironically enough when the time in your (look, there's how it's done) post came to drop an effortless and appropriate "your" onto the scene you unfortunately balked and opted for the much less appropriate "you," which of course is just a regular old pronoun, not the fancy possessive.

    You're (ta da!) welcome.

  22. Well played, Antigone. I was waiting for someone else to jump all over that one. I was done with our boy 'Tha Playa'…
