  1. The only negative I have heard of from this documentary is that is doesn't present the other point of view. I think it would've been awesome to have had some footage of some of those old coaches and players that had their asses handed to them back in the days and how they felt about it.

Then again we dont know what kind of access Corben had to those individuals. It's still going to be one kick-ass documentary.

  2. Anon – I hear you… but if we only have a two-hour documentary that will span three decades of Miami football, I want to see Canes footage – not the crybabies that Miami whooped up on.

The two-hour piece didn't even scratch the surface regarding the legacy of Miami Football. This thing could've been ten hours.

  3. Wow, I love reliving the GLORY DAYS!!! No team put more fear into opponent's hearts like the U did in the mid-80's on through the early 90's. I loved watching the early 00's Canes teams demolish the opposition, but there's just something about those old-school Canes teams that makes me wish I had a time machine to go back in time for one of those crazy Orange Bowl rocking nights when the Canes would turn a competitive football game into a Miami block party, with all the dancing, taunting, and celebrating. The U knew they were the better team, the opponent knew the Canes were the better team, and just in case they had a case of amnesia on the flight home, the Canes were gonna make sure to remind the opponent all game long who the best is. God, do I miss the old West End Zone Crew!!!

  4. Anon – My DVR says it will be coming on again on ESPN 2 @ 1:30 AM Sunday morning, 9 PM Sunday night on ESPN Classic, 11 PM Sunday night on ESPN 2, 7 PM Monday on ESPN U, 10 PM Tuesday on ESPN U, and Thursday @ 2 PM on ESPN U. If you can't catch it then, I'd suggest HULU.com or checking the internet.

  5. Ok, AllCanes, we need a shirt that says "You don't like us dancin?" on the front and "Then don't let us in the end zone" on the back.

  6. That movie made me cry and miss the OB. With that being said it is a honor to know that the world knows we started this shit! College football is what it is because guys like Alonzo Highsmith Melvin Bratton and all the Canes from the old school did ehat they did. Fuck Oaklahoma Fuck Texas Fuck the world this is what we do. It makes me sad that we are trying to make ourselves a "clean" program. We are the fuckin U. We are gritty grimey and we beat motherfuckers down! I hope these guys playing for us understand we like that about them and go to Orlando and beat the shit out of cornbread ass Wisconsin! Next year we go and kill mother fuckers going to the shoe and murder buckeyes! Get that swag back cause god damn it we invented the word!!!!! C A N E S CANES!!!!!! God bless the U!!!!!!!

    I wish.

No way in HELL the CLC or University of Miami would ever allow a shirt like that to be made.

Maybe could've pulled it off in the 80s hey day, but not in the modern era of college ball. Zero chance. We're handcuffed by what we can and can't do.

You said it! Nothing pisses me off more than watching all those other college football teams throwing up four fingers at the end of the third quarter!

That came from the U, invented by the U, no one else should be doing it. I heard the DVD will include alot more footage that includes Coker and the '01 team…..no question the greatest single-season college football team to ever suit up.

  9. Lots of good memories. I had forgotten how close we came to winning five in a row. Just a couple plays away…

  10. No kidding about the four fingers. I tried to explain to a colleague how the four fingers began on what turned out to be a great night in Tallahassee. He told me no, that it started at either ND or Oklahoma. I almost punched him.

  11. I say we make our own shirt that says that then since it can't officially be made. I saw someone wearing a shirt at the USF game they made and were selling that said "Swag Tested" on the front and "Swag Approved" on the back. They had an orange and green painted hand throwing the []_[] up on the front. I was going to buy one, but they didn't have my size.

  12. If it's true that this comes to DVD, that's a must have!!

Saw Mark Ingram get his Heisman. It had to be him.

Who were these clowns that actually voted for Tim Tebow? Was it the beatdown that UF put on Troy? What could inspire idiots like this? Only one explanation that I can see. They're so in love with him, it's like thay have blinders on. All they can see is # 15.

  13. The part I loved the best was the Cotton Bowl and then the subsequent "MiamiRules" implemented the next year. We kicked Texas' ass from the opening entrance of the game. I remember watching the game that day on TV and the panalties didn't bother me one bit. The dominating play and sh*t talking is what mattered. For the announcers, and anyone who played the holier than thou card and acted apalled….f*ck 'em.
That was a great documentary. I can't wait for the DVD.

  14. that documentary was so sweet. i was born in 87, so as a young canes fan, i had no idea how dominant and straight up cool those guys really were. now i understand why we expect so much from these canes. i loved how michael irvin and some others called the players out after the BYU game..the Hurricanes represented so much more than just a football team.

    allcanes,

throughout the video i noticed on the sidelines and off the field some of the freshest canes gear ive ever seen. sick jackets, cool hats, real 80's style stuff i guess. does anyone still make that kind of team apparel? thanks.

p.s. i enjoy reading your blog, its always insightful

  15. J.Brown: WE ain't scared of you BITCH!…we the BOSS,,,we the BOSS…

Referee: Miami wins the toss, you want to receive?

    J.Brown: Sure

    CLASSIC!!!!!

  16. It was a great piece, but I'm glad those days are over. UM really was Thug U and there is just no place for some of that nonsense in sports. I was a young sports fan during those days so I had no idea how trashy some of our guys were. Stealing radios on the weekend? Give me a damn break. So glad to see Miami isnt that anymore. Thanks to guys like Butch Davis and now Randy Shannon. If
that's what it takes to win consistantly, then the university of Miami should want no part of it. Thankfully it looks as tho that's not happening. Shannon and Co. are winning and doing so in a classy way.

  17. very nice documentary. I couldn't help but wonder while watching this film…all the stuff Coach Shannon hears during recruiting visits. I also wonder what he tells recruits about this time in University of Miami football? I can vision Coach Shannon calling his recruits this week and them saying.."wow coach, that documentary about "THE U" was great. I loved the swagger they had, I want to be apart of that!" How do you as the coach right now at miami talk bad about the 80's, without making that recruit not as excited about Miami now? I guess that's why he's the coach and I'm not. I'm sure he does a great job, but I'm curious what his thoughts are on that.

I enjoyed the piece of the documentary where they focused on Howard Schnellenberger. Its obvious that guy was THE MAN who got things started. He definitely had to have a set of balls to recruit in some of the areas of Miami back in the early 80's!!

I also enjoyed the OU vs Miami piece, especially the part where the players stayed out on the field after coming through the tunnel to get a "up close and personal" look at the Oklahoma Sooners when they came out of the tunnel. That was CLASSIC!!!

  18. not enough words to describe how well this documentary was made!…i just hope ray ray, aldarius, jacory, sean, and all the others watched this and get hyped up and don't drop the ball up in orlando and get miami it's first 10 win season in a while, and just get inspired for next season and take the fbs by storm not just the acc….by the way my high point in the documentary was in the OB vs. nebraska when they asked us not to come out in the smoke and sebastian pulled it out for us anyways! our "smoke entrance" just isn't the same at the shark..if u tivo'd it you can actually see him creeping up in the tunnel just before they come out…

  19. Will this documentary be available for sale individually?

I feel that ESPN will probably sell the entire series as a whole once its done, although they are a few of the documentaries I would purchase, I dont feel like spending 100$ on the package.

ALLCanes….anyway you can haggle for a individuale DVD release of this?
