  1. Lane Kiffin did some under the table business when it came to OL Seantrel Handerson, most people expected him to end up at The U. What are your thoughts?

  2. Seeing the bios laid out, I feel better about the class today. We got some much needed linemen, as well as depth in other positions, (TE, QB, etc). I think Miami coaches are pretty much straight talkers: either you want to come to The U or not? Do you want to build something special here, or are you looking for someone to kiss your ass for the whole process? I want these guys who want to put in work. This looks like a solid class. We'll find out in 3 or 4 years. The seven early enrollees are going to be a great help as well.

  3. Great class. Now, I won't be stupid & bias & state that 5 stars don't matter. But, I will admit it being a bit overrated at Miami the last few years. We have championship level talent returning, as far as the position players go. We adressed the O Line, so with the bevy of RB's & Jacory under center, the O Line was crucial. It went understated, but injuries killed our defense, & we were still 9-4. Now, with our guys back healthy, & the emergence of Bailey, Vernon, etc. it gets even better with guys like Forston, Ajomo, Futch, Spence, DVD, Telemaque, B Harris, & Ray Ray, lookout! I predict we have the best QB, running game, receiver depth & safety tandem with Telemaque & Ray Ray, in the country. Not to mention an all american shut down corner in B Harris

I would hope that with USC in trouble and Kiffin having been chastised for his early recruiting mistakes at Tennessee, this isn't the case… but who knows in this crazy world of recruiting.

From what I saw at the presser today, papa Sean Henderson looks like he wants to be a star himself… so rolling to LA made sense.

It was reported earlier that Henderson is waiting to sign his LOI until So Cal goes in front of a judge in a few weeks. Big man wants to make sure the sanctions aren't going to be the death penalty. Curious to see this all play out.

I'm not saying five stars don't matter. I'd have loved to see five-star Seantrel to Miami today. That said, it's not the be all/end all. There are some five-star busts and some three-star studs.

My points were directed at those who are obsessed with the star system, following it religiously and get hopped up over online videos when they've never even seen these kids play in person, let alone on a consistent basis against different levels of talent.

Now, with our guys back healthy, & the emergence of Bailey, Vernon, etc. it gets even better with guys like Forston, Ajomo, Futch, Spence, DVD, Telemaque, B Harris, & Ray Ray, lookout!

Miami's defense stumbled a bit down the stretch… and injuries were a big reason.

When you look back and see a healthy Miami bunch shutting down eventual ACC champs Georgia Tech, or clamping down on Oklahoma in the second half – you see where this team was headed if healthy.

I think Miami had a great shot at 11-2 (or 12-2 if winning the ACC title game) if guys like Forston, Spence, Futch, Ojomo, Van Dyke, etc. weren't banged up throughout the year.

Canes defense takes a nice step forward next year. Fired up about what Rick Petri can do for the d-line, too.

A nastier d-line and an upgrade in talent at o-line will help Miami win games like Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Wisconsin – all games where they lost in the trenches and Harris was pressured into dumb mistakes.

  5. allcanes, I couldn't agree more. The D Line will be better with Petri & the health situation entering the season. I try to be as realistic as possible & I never use to say, ooh, this is our year pre 08 recruiting class. That was still a #1 class, & they will prove it. Wow, Berry emerged, as did Mike James at a position he isn't accustomed to, FB. Now, with Lamar Miller getting a chance after a redshirt year, we have Storm & Clements for the future. And lets understate Tommy Streeter being in the mix, 6"6 200 lbs & runs a 4.4 40. Wow. Vernon will be a standout next season. & Bailey a high 1st round pick. If Jacory aka 12 gage (my nickname for him), cuts down the picks to about 7 at the most, he will be the heisman, because he can fling that ball. I wish he would use that athleticism more often on the scrambles instead of throwing it up for grabs. He'll show Pryor who the best of that class was, like I predicted before he arrived here. Its all about the U

  6. With the size and basketball ability, that Barton kid reminds me of another O-lineman out of South Florida a few years back that made a splash in the NFL. Don't know if you all remember William Roberts who played for Carol City before going up to Ohio State in 1980. Ended up with the Giants playing next to Jumbo Elliot. By the time it was all said and done, he had two Super Bowl rings.
