Big Reg Reinstated For NC State

The NCAA has reinstated Hurricanes starting center Reggie Johnson, which couldn’t have come at a better time. Miami takes on NC State in Raleigh on Wednesday night and ends the regular season with a Saturday showdown against Boston College at The BUC.

The NCAA ruled that Johnson would be reinstated on the conditions that he repay the value of the benefits to a charity and serve a one-game suspension.

A recent investigation showed that the Johnson family accepted impermissible benefits from a former member of UM’s coaching staff. Johnson sat out last weekend’s victory over Florida State and will now be available for tonight’s showdown against the Wolfpack.

Miami needs wins over both NC State and Boston College to keep their NCAA post-season dreams alive. Both ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and CBSSports.com’s Jerry Palm moved UM into their group of last four bubble teams after dropping them after last week’s loss to Maryland.

Tip-off is at 9pm ET against NC State, who are 18-11 overall and 7-7 in the ACC. The Wolfpack have lost four straight.

  1. Bad loss to NC State last night as far as getting into the tournament. The bbal team is very similar to the football team – consistantly inconsistnt. We can’t beat Duke one week and then lose to maryland and NC State the next. That could be the deciding factor in getting left out. We’re right on the bubble and I think we have to beat BC this weekend and probably win two games in the ACC tourney to get in. One win in the tourney will put us in danger. Let’s see how this plays out.
